Jenny had been made redundant but wanted to get back to work
because she was struggling to pay her bills. Her Money mentor helped
her to do a price comparison and make savings on her household bills.
Jenny was also supported with job applications and interview practice.
Within a few months Jenny was offered a job which fitted in with her
family life. “ I’m really enjoying the work I do now and I don’t have to
worry anymore about paying the bills. I’ve even managed to start saving
towards a holiday ”.
Clive had been out of work for a long time and was worried that his skills
were not up to date. On the Breakthrough project he was supported to
re-train and apply for jobs. “I now have the confidence to go to interviews
knowing that I can do the job” .
Dave was really struggling with not having enough money to live on and
had got into debt. He was too stressed to even think about applying for
jobs. The Money Mentor on the Breakthrough project helped Dave to put
together an action plan of steps to take to improve his situation. Dave
received specialist debt advice and was helped to plan his budget so he
could avoid overspending. His Money Mentor found a basic IT skills
course for him and now he has learnt how to use online banking. “I never
thought I would be able to do this. The help I have received has been
great. I’m sleeping much better now because I’m not anxious.”
