Building Futures

Building Futures is a partnership project with Cornwall Council and local housing associations, which aims to help new tenants have a successful tenancy, reducing problems of falling behind on rent and possible eviction.

Dedicated Citizens Advice staff offer new tenants workshops covering their rights and responsibilities as tenants and those of their landlords; ways of taking control of their money; managing financial difficulties and budgeting.

The scheme, which is organised by Cornwall Council and funded by the European Social Fund, is open to anyone over 16 who has the right to live and work in the UK and is receiving a work-related benefit, such as Job Seeker’s Allowance, or anyone who is not in employment but looking for a job.
